Microservices are a great idea, until they’re not. Many businesses are starting to see the fractures in the microservices architecture as their operations teams struggle to keep up with the ever-growing body of segregated and disassociated production-level software. Sure, the unicorns will say, “just shift left and make the developer responsible for more,” however, that doesn’t fly in many of today’s businesses. Monoliths have their downsides, but they were mostly contained and had minimal layers. Today’s microservices applications may be 4- and 5-deep dependencies. In this session we’ll review strategies for wrangling the microservices monster leveraging modern operational tools and DevOps approaches.
