Innovations in health have been largely been focused on increasing success in fee-for-service healthcare or in appealing to consumers interested in improving health. Neither of these directions is likely to deliver the critical disruptions we need in the health system. Every other industry tries to deliver more value—higher quality, a better experience, or more features for a lower cost—while healthcare innovators chase profits in a broken market place. Altering the landscape for health innovation could accelerate innovation around value. Some specific recent examples from Dell Medical School and other entities illustrate the potential to disciplining innovations around the needs and desires of people.  This is part of the Austin CIO Luncheon and requires separate registration.
